Sharing a USB-connected printer
1. On the PC with a USB-connected printer, search for 'printer' in the Search Bar, and select the Windows 'Printers & Scanners' option.
2. From the list of printers, select the printer you wish to share, then click Manage.
3. Click 'Printer properties', then navigate to the 'Sharing' tab.
4. Tick the 'Share this printer:' checkbox. Optional: change the Share Name of the printer to something more recognisable. Click OK.
5. Navigate to the 'About this PC' settings window. Make note of the Device name.
Connecting to a shared USB-connected printer
1. On the PC you want to connect the USB-connected printer to, search for 'printer' in the Search Bar, and select the Windows 'Printers & Scanners' option.
2. Select '+ Add a printer or scanner' at the top of the page. After a few moments, the option 'The printer that I want isn't listed' will appear. Select this option.
3. Click the 'Select a shared printer by name' radio button, then enter into the text field below two backslashes ( \\ ), then the Device name noted down as part of Step 5 of the previous stage. Then, enter another backslash ( \ ). Here, it may autocomplete the sequence by adding the name of the shared printer. If not, manually enter the shared printer's name. Click Next.
4. When prompted, use the default printer name. Click Next again, then Finish. The shared USB printer is now accessible on this PC.
