Cancelling an iOS app download
Description
Occasionally, the download process for an iOS app can get stuck, and won't allow you to remove the app via Intune management. Trying to access the app on the iPad may generate a message like "To install this app, you must purchase it in the App Store".
To resolve this issue, you can follow the steps below to manually cancel the download, then allow Intune to reinstall the app for you.
1) Locate the app on your iOS device home screen. Hold your finger down on the app icon for a couple of seconds, until all the icons start shaking.
2) A context menu for the app should appear. From this menu, press the 'Cancel Download' option. Note: this option may not appear the first few times you attempt this step. If the 'Cancel Download' option isn't available, tap a blank space on the home screen, then start again from Step 1.
3) Once the download has been cancelled, access the Intune management portal from your PC, and navigate to the iPad. Initiate a sync on the device. Once the device syncs, the application should begin to install again, and will not be halted at the 'downloading' stage.
